Their story
Kif & Co. is the Los Angeles company behind Kif, a fizzy probiotic soda. Founder Caroline Brain started brewing kefir soda at home while working on her own gut health, then shared bottles with friends and family.
During the pandemic she began selling at local farmers markets, and the drink found a following that carried it into retail. The brand, first called Kif Kefir Water, was renamed Kif Nature's Soda in 2025 and is still run by a small team.
How it's made
Kefir cultures ferment filtered water and cane sugar until most of the sugar is gone, leaving a lightly sparkling base. Real fruit purees and organic herbs go in afterward for flavor. Each can carries live cultures and under 6 grams of sugar, and the drink is caffeine free.
Kefir soda is an ancient probiotic beverage consumed for thousands of years due to its powerful gut health benefits.
