Their story
Le Marais Bakery began in 2013 on Chestnut Street in San Francisco's Marina. Owner Patrick Ascaso grew up in France and, after a career in business, wanted to recreate the kind of neighborhood pastry shop where people stop in from morning to evening.
The name comes from the Paris neighborhood, and the bakery mixes French classics with a California outlook, from baguettes and brioche to seasonal pastries.
How it's made
Breads are leavened with natural levain, including a country loaf, a chocolate levain and a traditional baguette. The bakery takes a farm-to-table approach and has sourced from Bay Area producers such as Star Route Farms, Dirty Girl Produce, Cowgirl Creamery and Llano Seco.
Why we carry them
We are glad to share a fellow San Francisco business that cares about good ingredients. Le Marais is a taste of Paris without leaving the city.
