Their story
Les Sablons is a Vouvray cuvée from Vignoble Denis Meunier, a small family estate in the Loire Valley. The domaine has been run by the Meunier family, and French guides have listed it at only a handful of hectares, which keeps production modest.
Vouvray sits on the north bank of the Loire just east of Tours, and its wines are made entirely from Chenin Blanc. The cuvée name, Les Sablons, points to the sandy soils of the vineyard it comes from.
How it's made
The wine is made from Chenin Blanc grown on the estate's own vines in the Vouvray appellation. It is raised in tank rather than oak, which keeps the focus on fresh fruit and the minerality of the site. Recent vintages are made in small runs of a few thousand bottles.
Why we carry them
We like this as an everyday introduction to dry Vouvray from a small grower. It is a good match for goat cheese, shellfish and lighter weeknight dishes.
