Their story
Leyenda del Milagro is a reserve line from Milagro Tequila, the brand started by Danny Schneeweiss and Moy Guindi, two friends from Mexico City who wanted a tequila that reflected the modern city they grew up in.
They brought in master distiller Pedro Juarez and gave him room to experiment. In 2004 the founders partnered with the Scottish family company William Grant & Sons, which bought the brand outright in 2006. Schneeweiss and Guindi have stayed on as its public faces.
How it's made
Milagro uses 100 percent blue agave from the Jalisco highlands, roasted for 36 hours in brick ovens. The tequila is distilled twice, first in a pot still and then in a tall column still, before it is aged in wood for the barrel reserve expressions.
Why we carry them
We like the Leyenda bottlings for sipping when you want an aged tequila that still tastes of agave. A good pick for anyone moving beyond blanco.
