Limavady

A single barrel Irish single malt reviving a long-lost Northern Ireland distillery name.

Their story

Limavady is the project of Darryl McNally, a whiskey maker who grew up in the Northern Ireland town of the same name. He spent nearly 17 years at Bushmills before moving to the Dublin Liberties Distillery, and his brother, also a former Bushmills distiller, is part of the family venture.

A distillery operated in Limavady in the 18th century and eventually disappeared, and McNally traces his family back to its owners. He revived the name with a single barrel single malt, launched with WhistlePig as a partner and plans for a distillery of its own down the road.

How it's made

The malt is sourced from an Irish distillery and aged first in first-fill bourbon casks for around four years. It is then finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks in two stages. Each bottle comes from a single barrel.

Limavady kept calling.

Why we carry them

We like Limavady for anyone curious about Irish single malt beyond the big names. The sherry finish gives it a rich, fruity side that works well neat.
