Maison Prunier

A centuries-old family Cognac house known for light, traditional blends.

Founded by
Jean Prunier
Based in
Cognac, Nouvelle-Aquitaine

Their story

The Prunier family was trading cognac by about 1700, when Jean Prunier ran the business from La Rochelle. Later generations moved the house to the town of Cognac, where it still occupies one of the oldest houses in the city.

When the last Prunier died without children in 1918, a cousin, Jean Burnez, took over, and the Burnez family has run the house since. Stéphane Burnez has since retired, and his daughter Alice now leads the business.

How it's made

Prunier makes cognac in a light, traditional style with no added sugar or caramel. Alongside blends from VS to Extra, the house is known for single-vintage and single-cru bottlings from areas like Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Fins Bois.

Why we carry them

We point cognac fans to Prunier for an old family house that still bottles vintages. The no-additive style lets the grapes and the years speak.
