- Pedro Quintanilla (co-founder)
Their story
Marca Negra is a mezcal label co-founded by Pedro Quintanilla, who also serves as its managing partner. The brand works with mezcal makers in different parts of Mexico and bottles each agave on its own terms.
In 2017 Phillips Distilling took the brand into its distribution portfolio and rolled it out across the United States.
How it's made
Each expression is made in a different place and from a different agave, including Espadín, Tobalá, Tepeztate, San Martín and Dobadan, plus an ensamble. Production is organic, and the mezcals are bottled strong, typically between 95 and 105 proof.
Why we carry them
We point adventurous drinkers to Marca Negra for mezcal with real intensity. Sip it slowly and add a drop of water if you like.
