Their story

MASA launched in 2022 with a simple idea: make tortilla chips the old way, fried in beef tallow rather than the seed oils used by most snack brands. Co-founder Steven Rofrano and his team built the company around that choice.

The chips caught on quickly, and in 2024 the brand added potato chips fried the same way. Today MASA makes its snacks in its own New Jersey factory.

How it's made

The chips are made from corn masa and fried in grass-fed beef tallow. MASA buys fresh tallow in batches instead of stockpiling it, so the fat stays in good condition, and keeps ingredient lists short.

We chose tallow because, in our view, it is the best fat for frying food, and it tastes really good.

Why we carry them

We like MASA chips for their sturdy crunch and rich, clean corn flavor. They hold up to the thickest guacamole.
