Masterson's Whiskey
Ten-year-old straight rye named for frontier lawman Bat Masterson.
- Founded by
- August Sebastiani
- Based in
- Sonoma, California
Their story
Masterson's was created by August Sebastiani of the Sonoma wine family, through the spirits arm of his company 3 Badge Beverage. He named it for William "Bat" Masterson, the Canadian-born lawman of the American Old West, as a nod to that era.
The whiskey itself comes from north of the border: a 10-year-old straight rye distilled in Alberta. In 2017, 3 Badge sold Masterson's to Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits of Stamford, Connecticut, which said it would keep sourcing the same way.
How it's made
Masterson's 10 Year Straight Rye is distilled from a 100% rye mash in a pot still at Alberta Distillers in Calgary and aged ten years before bottling at 90 proof. The brand has also released versions finished in American, French and Hungarian oak.
Why we carry them
We like Masterson's for rye fans who want something older and spicier than the usual. It makes a serious Manhattan.
