Their story
Leslie Merinoff Kwasnieski and Brian Kwasnieski, partners in several earlier ventures, opened Matchbook Distilling in 2018 in a 38,000-square-foot warehouse in Greenport, on the North Fork of Long Island. They chose the area for its farms and wineries.
Matchbook calls itself a bespoke distillery and incubator. Alongside its own experimental spirits, it gives other makers, new and experienced, a place to develop the bottles they want to make, and those clients keep full ownership of their products.
How it's made
The team distills in-house with a science-led approach, drawing on a wall of around 20 botanicals and North Fork agriculture. Spirits are built around each maker's traditions and ingredients rather than a fixed house style.
You're building flavor and then taking it out by separating it from everything else.
Why we carry them
We love Matchbook for the curious drinker. These are spirits you won't find anywhere else, made with real thought about where ingredients come from.
