Their story
Bàrbara Mesquida Mora grew up in a winemaking family on Mallorca and spent years running the estate her great-grandfather started. In 2012 she set out on her own, starting her project from scratch and giving it her own name.
She farms about 20 hectares around Porreres and Felanitx in the center of the island, including Son Porquer, which is described as Mallorca's oldest biodynamically farmed vineyard, and a parcel of 80-year-old Callet vines. The vineyards have been Demeter certified since 2007, among the first in Spain.
Her range runs from the everyday Sincronia white, rosé and red to single-variety bottlings like Gorgollassa, all built around the island's own grapes.
How it's made
Work in the vineyard follows the lunar calendar, with biodynamic composts and plant preparations, and more than 100 fruit trees planted to encourage biodiversity. In the cellar, wines ferment slowly with wild yeasts, are left unfined and see only minimal sulfur.
Why we carry them
Callet and Gorgollassa are grapes you rarely see outside Mallorca, and these wines are a great way to meet them. The Sincronia bottles are easy, fresh choices for the dinner table.
