Their story
Mikkeller began in Copenhagen in 2006, when high school teacher Mikkel Borg Bjergsø and journalist Kristian Klarup Keller started brewing. Rather than build a brewery, they worked as "gypsy" brewers, creating recipes and one-off beers in collaboration with other brewers.
The brand has since added its own breweries and bars in Copenhagen, San Diego and New York, and Mikkeller Spirits carries the same curious approach into gin and other spirits.
How it's made
Mikkeller's Botanical Gin is distilled with juniper, lemongrass, angelica root, cardamom and bitter orange, plus American Simcoe hops for a lemon-zest note that nods to its beer roots. A navy strength version is bottled at 57% ABV.
