Their story
Mizu is a shochu brand launched in the US in 2013 by Nehan Spirits. The spirit is distilled by Munemasa Syuzo in Arita, a town in Saga Prefecture on the southern island of Kyushu.
The flagship is Mizu Saga Barley shochu, and the range also includes a version aged in sakura wood casks.
How it's made
Mizu is made from two-row barley grown in Saga, with black koji cultivated on Saga rice. The water comes from Mount Kurokami.
Why we carry them
Mizu is a great starting point if you are new to shochu. Try it on the rocks, with soda, or in place of vodka in a cocktail.
