Their story

Monkey Shoulder comes from William Grant & Sons, the independent, family-run Scotch whisky company. Master blender Brian Kinsman began working on the recipe in 2003, and the whisky launched in the UK and France in 2005.

The name honors the malt workers who turned germinating barley by hand with shovels. The repetitive work left some with a strain that made one arm hang lower, a condition known as monkey shoulder.

How it's made

It is a blended malt, meaning it combines single malts from three Speyside distilleries with no grain whisky. Kinsman built it for cocktails as much as for sipping, with notes of vanilla, orange, and cinnamon.

Because it's made for mixing, every day Monkey Shoulder can be something else.

Why we carry them

Monkey Shoulder is our easy answer for a whisky that works in a highball or a Penicillin. It is smooth enough to sip neat too.
