Their story
Moulin de Gassac belongs to the Guibert family, best known for Mas de Daumas Gassac, the estate Aimé and Véronique Guibert bought in the Gassac Valley near Aniane in 1974. Today their sons, Samuel, Gaël, Roman and Basile, run both labels, having taken over from their parents in 2009.
The family started Moulin de Gassac in 1990 as a way to bring their approach to a wider stretch of the Hérault and to wines meant for everyday drinking. Reds come from the hillsides around Villeveyrac, while whites and rosés come from near the Thau Lagoon around Pinet.
How it's made
The Guiberts work with long-time partner growers across the Hérault, using practices such as mating disruption instead of insecticides, mechanical weeding, cover crops and bat boxes. Each plot is fermented separately and then blended, with the aim of finesse rather than heavy extraction.
Why we carry them
We love finding wines with a serious pedigree at a weeknight price, and Moulin de Gassac is exactly that. Fresh, honest southern French wine for the dinner table.
