Their story
Napa Valley Distillery is run by husband and wife Arthur and Lusine Hartunian, who left careers in financial services in Southern California to make spirits. Arthur is the self-described cocktail geek, and Lusine is the master taster and handles marketing. They decided to take the leap in 2009.
Their first product was a Meyer lemon liqueur, started on the family kitchen counter. Today the distillery has an art deco tasting room in Napa, and the couple also sell bitters, syrups and bar tools at Oxbow Public Market.
How it's made
The early lemon liqueur took thousands of organic lemons peeled by hand. The vodka and gin are infused with Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, and the team ages whiskey in barrels sourced from local winemakers, such as port barrels that bring out dried fruit notes.
Why we carry them
Napa Valley Distillery is a great stop for home bartenders, with spirits plus the bitters and syrups to go with them. Their mixers make an easy upgrade for a weekend cocktail.
