Their story

Novo Fogo is made in Morretes, a small town in the Brazilian state of Paraná, where the sugarcane fields and distillery sit inside the Atlantic Rainforest near the coast. The brand is led by founder and CEO Dragos Axinte, who has made a point of sharing cachaça with bartenders well beyond Brazil.

The company built its reputation on organic cachaça and a zero-waste approach to distilling, with attention to both the land and the people who work it. By 2017 it had expanded from the United States into Europe.

How it's made

Novo Fogo distills fresh-pressed organic sugarcane juice at its zero-waste distillery in Morretes. The Silver rests a year in stainless steel, while aged expressions spend one to two years in repurposed American oak bourbon barrels, and Tanager is finished in Brazilian zebrawood. The cachaças are USDA certified organic.

Why we carry them

We think Novo Fogo is the best way to get to know cachaça beyond the caipirinha. The Silver is bright and grassy, and the barrel-aged bottles are great for sipping.
