Nut Crumbs

Gluten-free breadcrumbs made from ground nuts, herbs and spices.

Their story

Nut Crumbs started in a San Diego home kitchen. Founder Susan Laughlin began grinding nuts with herbs and spices as a stand-in for breadcrumbs while cooking paleo after the birth of her first son, and she used the mix for years before turning it into a business.

She first sold it at San Diego farmers markets, including Little Italy Mercato, Pacific Beach, North Park and La Jolla. Her goal was to give people with dietary limits a way to enjoy breaded comfort foods again.

How it's made

Nut Crumbs grinds almonds and cashews with either pistachios or pecans, then blends in herbs and spices. Flavors include Original, Italian, Spicy and Coconut Curry, and the crumbs are gluten-free and paleo friendly.

Why we carry them

We like Nut Crumbs for crusting chicken, fish or vegetables when bread crumbs are off the table. They brown nicely and add a toasty, nutty flavor.
