Their story
The Oddero family has made wine in La Morra, in the Langhe hills of southern Piedmont, for more than two centuries. Giovanni Battista Oddero and his sons were making wine in the early 1800s, and in 1878 Giacomo Oddero began bottling under the family name.
Today the estate is led by Mariacristina Oddero and her niece Isabella Boffa, with the seventh generation now involved. Based in the hamlet of Santa Maria, the family farms 35 hectares, about half Nebbiolo, across well-known crus like Vigna Rionda, Rocche di Castiglione, Villero and Brunate.
How it's made
Oddero began converting to organic farming in 2009, and all of its Nebbiolo vineyards are now certified organic. The Nebbiolo ferments in stainless steel with long macerations of more than 25 days, then ages 30 to 40 months in large, neutral Slavonian and Austrian oak casks before bottling.
Why we carry them
We think Oddero is one of the best ways to taste traditional Barolo made with care. The wines are classic, structured and built to age.
