Their story
Ofood is the international brand of Daesang, a South Korean food company that has been making fermented staples since 1956. Daesang created Ofood in 2017 to carry its pantry goods beyond Korea, and gave it a fresh identity of its own in 2022.
The line is anchored by gochujang, the sweet, spicy chili paste at the heart of so much Korean cooking, and branches into other jang pastes, sauces, seaweed snacks, ramen and ready meals. The company describes its approach as a "Korean twist": traditional flavors adapted to fit the way people cook in other countries.
Today Ofood is sold in more than 80 countries across North America, Europe, Oceania and Asia.
How it's made
Ofood's pastes come out of Daesang's long history with fermentation, the slow process behind classic Korean jang like gochujang and doenjang. The range pairs those traditional fermented bases with newer sauces and convenience products designed for cooks outside Korea.
Why we carry them
We like Ofood as an easy entry point to Korean pantry cooking. A spoonful of their gochujang adds heat, sweetness and depth to marinades, stews and even a weeknight grilled cheese.
