Their story

OLIPOP was started by Ben Goodwin and David Lester, who had already built and sold Obi, a probiotic soda company they co-founded in 2013.

Goodwin worked out the OLIPOP formula in a home lab in Santa Cruz, finishing it in 2018. The first cans hit shelves in Northern California at the start of 2019, with the goal of offering a soda that nudges people toward healthier habits without asking them to give up the drinks they love.

How it's made

Each can blends prebiotic and plant fibers with botanicals such as marshmallow root, nopal cactus and Jerusalem artichoke. A can holds about 9 grams of fiber and only 2 to 5 grams of sugar, compared with roughly 39 grams in many classic sodas.

Why we carry them

We like OLIPOP for anyone who misses soda but wants less sugar. The flavors taste like the classics, and it is a Bay Area-born brand.
