Their story
Faith Armstrong-Foster grew up on a tiny island in Canada and rode a boat called Onward to school, which is where her label gets its name.
She worked in boating industry marketing and sales before a wine marketing job brought her to California. She went on to study viticulture and enology at UC Davis and worked as an assistant winemaker in Napa, then struck out on her own in 2009.
Working out of Sonoma, she makes Pinot Noir, Carignane, Zinfandel and Malvasia Bianca.
How it's made
Armstrong-Foster works only with growers whose farming she admires and bottles each wine from a single site. She picks early to keep the fruit bright and lets each vineyard and vintage guide her choices in the cellar.
