Orgain grew out of Dr. Andrew Abraham's own experience. He survived cancer at a young age, went into medicine, and became convinced that better everyday nutrition mattered. He eventually stepped away from his practice to make foods and drinks built around that idea.
The company is based in Irvine, California, and became known for its organic protein powders and ready-to-drink shakes. In 2022 Nestlé Health Science agreed to buy a majority stake in Orgain, with Abraham staying on as a minority investor.
How it's made
Orgain develops its products with culinary nutritionists and leans on organic ingredients. Most of the line is certified organic, gluten-free and non-GMO, made without soy, carrageenan, or artificial flavors, colors and preservatives.
