Their story
Pan's Mushroom Jerky is Michael Pan's company. He grew up in Mississippi, worked as an engineer, and first tasted mushroom jerky while visiting family in Malaysia, where a cousin made and sold it locally. His family was vegetarian and loved its chewy, meaty texture.
Pan started working on the idea in 2008 and ran it as a side business for years before officially launching in 2018. An appearance on Shark Tank in 2020 brought a rush of orders and Mark Cuban as a partner.
How it's made
The jerky is made from mushrooms that are seasoned and dried to give a chewy, savory snack. It is plant-based, and the company's goal is to offer a satisfying alternative to meat snacks.
