Their story

Pasteur Street Brewing Company was started by John Reid, an American craft beer fan who had lived in Vietnam for years and saw almost no craft beer there. He brought in brewer Alex Violette from Upslope Brewing in Colorado, who later became CEO.

The first taproom opened at 144 Pasteur Street in Saigon's District 1. The brewery has since added taprooms in Hanoi, Hoi An and around Ho Chi Minh City, and its Cyclo Stout won gold at the 2016 World Beer Cup.

How it's made

The brewery builds recipes around Vietnamese ingredients and flavors, from its signature Jasmine IPA to beers made with jackfruit, kumquat and durian. Small experimental batches are brewed on the original pilot system as part of an Innovation Series, and the team often collaborates with other brewers.

Why we carry them

We like the Jasmine IPA as a quick trip to Saigon in a can. It's a fun way to taste how local ingredients can reshape a familiar style.
