Their story

Paul John is the single malt whisky of John Distilleries, the Bangalore company Paul P. John founded in 1992. The whisky itself is made at the company's malt distillery in Goa, on India's southwest coast.

The company decided to make single malt in 2008. Its first release, a single cask bottling, launched in London in 2012, and the core range, with peated and unpeated whiskies, followed in 2013.

How it's made

Paul John is distilled from Indian six-row barley grown in the Himalayan foothills, using Indian-made copper pot stills with long necks. Goa's hot, humid monsoon climate speeds up maturation, so the whisky reaches maturity much faster than it would in Scotland.

Why we carry them

We like Paul John for anyone curious about whisky beyond Scotland. Tropical aging gives it a rich, fruity style at a young age.
