Their story

Pedroncelli is a family winery on Canyon Road in Geyserville, in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley. Italian immigrant Giovanni Pedroncelli borrowed money in 1927, in the middle of Prohibition, to buy a vineyard and a shuttered winery there.

In the early years the family sold wine in barrels to stores and in jugs to nearby farmers. His son John bottled the first Pedroncelli Zinfandel in 1949, and in 1963 John and his brother Jim bought out their father and moved the winery toward quality bottled wine. John led winemaking for decades.

How it's made

The family farms its own vineyards in Dry Creek Valley, which by the 1980s covered about 180 acres across three sites. Zinfandel has been central since the start, alongside other reds and whites. The house style aims for wines that are ready to enjoy rather than cellar.

We like people to drink our wines, not put them away.

Why we carry them

We like Pedroncelli as an honest taste of old-school Sonoma Zinfandel at a fair price. It's a dinner wine, meant to be opened.
