Their story
Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co. traces its roots to 1889, when Henry Kraver began making bourbon in Henderson, Kentucky. The distillery went quiet in 1917 and stayed that way for decades.
In 2015, Corky and Carson Taylor, fourth- and fifth-generation descendants of Kraver, reopened Peerless on Louisville's Whiskey Row, 98 years after it closed. Corky serves as chairman and Carson as president.
How it's made
Peerless makes its own bourbon and rye from grain to bottle at the Louisville distillery. Rather than buying in whiskey, the family waited for its own spirit to age, releasing rye at about two years and bourbon at about four.
Why we carry them
We like Peerless for showing what a young Louisville distillery can do with its own spirit. The rye is bold and spicy.
