Their story

Popchips was founded in 2007 by entrepreneurs Keith Belling and Patrick Turpin, who wanted a crunchy chip that was neither fried nor baked. Their answer borrowed the method behind puffed rice cakes.

The brand has changed hands several times. Investors took large stakes in 2008 and 2012, and it later became part of Velocity Snack Brands. In November 2022, Velocity Snack Brands, and with it Popchips, was acquired by the parent company of Real Food From the Ground Up.

How it's made

Popchips start with potato starch and corn ingredients that are heated under high pressure until they pop, much like a rice cake. The result is a light, crisp chip made without frying, then seasoned.

Why we carry them

We keep Popchips around for a lighter crunch at lunch or on a picnic. They are a simple, crowd-pleasing snack.
