Their story

Prairie Artisan Ales was started in 2012 by brothers Chase and Colin Healey in Krebs, Oklahoma. They began without a brewery of their own, brewing early batches at Krebs Brewing Company, and family members pitched in to cork and cage bottles by hand. The first batch of their imperial stout Bomb! was even dipped in wax by hand.

The beers caught on quickly, and Prairie grew into a Tulsa production site and taproom. In 2016 Krebs Brewing, owned by Zach Prichard, acquired the Prairie brands. Today the brand runs a taproom in Oklahoma City, and its beers reach more than 40 states.

How it's made

Prairie built its name on barrel-aged imperial stouts, farmhouse ales and wild and sour beers. The brewers use barrel aging, fruit aging and wood fermentation, and they still experiment across styles.

I had been waiting on Prairie for years.

Why we carry them

We like Prairie for beer drinkers who want something bold and a little playful. Bomb! is the one to start with if you love a big imperial stout.
