Their story

Radeberger was founded in 1872 in the town of Radeberg, near Dresden, as the Aktienbrauerei zum Bergkeller. It is considered the oldest surviving German brewery to brew only pilsner-style beer.

The beer gained famous fans early on. Bismarck called it his chancellor's beer in 1887, and it became a favorite of Saxony's King Frederick Augustus III in 1905. After World War II the East German state took over the brewery; after reunification it was modernized.

Today Radeberger is part of the Radeberger Group, owned by the German Oetker family business.

How it's made

Radeberger brews a single style at heart: a crisp, pale German pilsner. The Radeberg brewery was rebuilt and updated in the 1990s to bring its brewing up to modern standards.

Why we carry them

We reach for Radeberger when we want a classic, clean German pilsner with real history behind it. It's an easy match for sausages and pretzels.
