Their story
RAR, short for Real Ale Revival, is a homecoming story. Owners Chris Brohawn and J.T. Merryweather left Cambridge, on Maryland's Eastern Shore, and later came back with a new appreciation for the place they grew up.
In 2013 they opened a taproom on Poplar Street in a former pool hall, which they renovated themselves on nights and weekends. Brewmaster Randy Mills and artist BJ Wheatley round out the team behind the beers and their bold labels.
How it's made
RAR's recipes draw on Chesapeake memories, like a dessert stout inspired by Smith Island Cake and a collaboration with a local creamery. The flagship is Nanticoke Nectar, a juicy IPA named for a nearby river.
sometimes you have to leave a place you grew up in, to start to appreciate what you had.
Why we carry them
We like beer that tastes of a place, and RAR wears its Eastern Shore roots proudly. Start with Nanticoke Nectar.
