Rezpiral Mezcal
Tiny-batch mezcals that spotlight individual Oaxacan producer families.
- Founded by
- Alex White
Their story
Rezpiral was started by Alex White, an artist and agave advocate, as a way to share the work of independent mezcalero families in Oaxaca. Each release credits the people who made it, including producers such as Berta Vasquez, Abel Martinez and Reina Sanchez.
The project is now about a decade old and releases its mezcals in numbered series, each built on long-term relationships with the same families.
How it's made
Each bottling comes from a single family, village, harvest and agave, often in runs of only a few hundred liters. The families farm, ferment and distill using traditional methods, and a significant share of proceeds goes back to them along with support for agave replanting.
Why we carry them
Rezpiral is for the mezcal curious who want to taste one family's hand at a time. Every bottle is a small snapshot of a place.
