Their story

Ridgeway Brewing was founded in Oxfordshire in 2002 by master brewer Peter Scholey, who ran it for more than two decades.

The brewery made classic English styles like IPA, bitter and ESB, along with a playful winter lineup with names like Santa's Butt, Bad Elf and Lump of Coal.

In 2025 Ridgeway was acquired by Crafty Brewing of Dunsfold, Surrey, as part of Scholey's succession plan.

How it's made

Ridgeway brews traditional English ales, from everyday bitters and IPA to stronger seasonal Christmas beers. Since the 2025 deal it is part of Crafty Brewing, and the combined business can produce about 100,000 liters a week.

Any business needs a succession plan, but with brewing, it is far more than just finding a new manager.

Why we carry them

Ridgeway's holiday beers are a seasonal tradition worth keeping. The labels make them easy gifts, and the beer inside backs them up.
