Rivsalt

Whole blocks of rock salt you grate fresh at the table.

Their story

Rivsalt is the work of Swedish designer Jens Sandringer, who set out to make seasoning feel like a small ritual again. Instead of a sealed grinder, you get a block of salt you can see and hold, plus a simple blade to shave it over your food.

The idea sits squarely in the Scandinavian design tradition: plain materials, clean lines, and an object that earns a spot on the dinner table rather than hiding in a cupboard.

How it's made

Each set pairs a solid chunk of rock salt, such as pink Himalayan salt, with a stainless steel grater and a small stand. You rub the block across the blade to produce fine flakes as you need them, and refill blocks replace the salt once it wears down.

Why we carry them

We like how Rivsalt turns a pinch of salt into a bit of tableside theater. It makes an easy, useful gift for anyone who cooks.
