Their story

In the 1800s, George Roe & Co ran one of Ireland's biggest whiskey operations, a 17-acre distillery in Dublin with nine large pot stills. The collapse of the Irish whiskey trade in the early 20th century wiped it out, leaving behind little more than a copper-domed tower and an old pear tree.

Diageo brought the name back with a blended Irish whiskey first released in 2017, developed by master blender Caroline Martin with bartenders in mind. In 2019 the company opened a working distillery in the Liberties, set inside a red brick 1930s power station that once supplied the Guinness site next door. Roe & Co is owned by Diageo.

How it's made

The flagship is a blend of malt and grain Irish whiskeys, which Caroline Martin built to hold up in cocktails as well as neat. The Dublin distillery gives the brand a home of its own, so future releases can draw on spirit made on site.

Why we carry them

We reach for Roe & Co when we want an Irish whiskey with enough backbone for a cocktail. It also has one of the better comeback stories in Dublin.
