Their story
Rogue Vine is led by Chilean winemaker Leo Erazo with his partner Justin Decker. They work with growers in two corners of the Itata Valley in southern Chile, including the granite hills of Guarilihue.
Itata is one of the oldest wine regions in the Americas, but for generations its small farmers were overlooked while bigger regions took the spotlight. Part of the project's purpose is to bring that farming community and its history back into view.
How it's made
The fruit comes from hillside bush vines at least 60 years old, some well over a century, rooted in granite mixed with clay and quartz. The vineyards are dry farmed and worked largely by hand and horse. In the cellar the team uses native yeasts and old barrels, makes no corrections, and adds only a little sulfur before bottling.
Why we carry them
We love pouring Rogue Vine for anyone curious about Cinsault, País, and old-vine Moscatel. These wines taste of a place, and they are easy to drink.
