Their story

The distillery in Lautoka, on the west coast of Fiji's main island, was built in 1980 by the Fiji Sugar Corporation and first ran as South Pacific Distilleries. Bounty rum became its best-known label.

Ownership has changed hands over the decades, from Fosters Group in 1998 to Coca-Cola Amatil in 2012. Since 2021 it has belonged to Coca-Cola Europacific Partners through Paradise Beverages Fiji. In 2015 it took the name Rum Co. of Fiji and launched its Ratu and Bati ranges.

How it's made

The distillery pairs a column still with pot stills brought over from the closed Willowbank distillery in New Zealand. That mix lets it make both lighter and heavier rums for blending and aging.

Why we carry them

We like pointing rum fans toward the South Pacific, and Rum Co. of Fiji is the place to start. It is a different take from the usual Caribbean pours.
