Their story
Sal de Ibiza is the work of Daniel Witte, who saw that the salt pans at the southern tip of Ibiza had been producing salt for centuries, yet no one had turned that salt into a brand of its own. He started the company in 2004.
The salt comes from the salinera in the Salinas area, a protected stretch of coast, and the company works closely with the people who run the salt works. Today the little salt pots and grinders sell across the island, from a boutique outside Santa Eulalia, and in specialty shops in Europe, the US, and Japan.
How it's made
The base product is fleur de sel gathered from the Salinas salt works, an area protected for its natural landscape. Sal de Ibiza packs it plain in pots, in glass and wood grinders, and as granito salts blended with chili, Mediterranean herbs, or flower petals.
We make very natural products; the area of Salinas is very protected, so what you get is a very organic base product.
Why we carry them
We like a pinch of this fleur de sel over sliced tomatoes or a good steak. The herb and flower blends make an easy gift for anyone who cooks.
