Their story

Scaia is a line of wines from Tenuta Sant'Antonio, the Valpolicella estate the Castagnedi siblings founded in 1995 by building on their father's vineyards. The estate is best known for Amarone, Valpolicella, and Soave.

The Castagnedis created Scaia as a fresh take on the region's wines. The name comes from a Veronese dialect word for the chalky, crumbly bits of Parmigiano Reggiano, a nod to the limestone soils.

How it's made

The youngest Scaia wines, including a Garganega and Chardonnay white and a Corvina red, are made only in steel to keep them fresh. Two more structured bottlings use some slightly dried grapes, and the Cabernet Sauvignon and red blend see oak.

Scaia is not just a line of wines: it is a new way of thinking about wine, in a land where tradition has great value.

Why we carry them

These are easy weeknight bottles from serious Amarone makers. We like the Corvina slightly chilled with pizza.
