Their story

Seedlip was created by Ben Branson, whose family has farmed in Lincolnshire for around 300 years. The name comes from the baskets farmers once used to hand-sow seed. After ordering a lackluster alcohol-free drink at a London restaurant, Ben came across The Art of Distillation, a 1651 book by physician John French that recorded non-alcoholic herbal remedies.

He started experimenting with a small copper still and herbs from his garden, spent two years refining the recipes, and launched in 2015 as what the brand calls the first distilled non-alcoholic spirit. Diageo-backed Distill Ventures invested early, and in 2019 Diageo took majority ownership, with Branson keeping a minority stake.

How it's made

Seedlip began with Ben distilling herbs from his garden in a small copper still, then two years of work refining the recipes. The range is built on distilled botanicals, with each expression drawing on a different mix of plants, and it is made to be mixed like a spirit.

Why we carry them

We point people to Seedlip when they want a grown-up drink without the alcohol. Mix it with good tonic and a twist of citrus.
