Their story
Semeli was founded in 1979 by the Kokotos family and has grown into a group of three wineries: Domaine Helios in the hill village of Koutsi in Nemea, the Nasiakou winery in Mantinia, and the original Semeli estate in Stamata, Attica.
Myrto Salla, daughter of Michalis Sallas, now leads the company. Under her, Semeli has focused on good-value everyday wines, such as its Mountain Sun range, while raising quality across the board. Chief winemaker Leonidas Nasiakos oversees production.
How it's made
The Nemea winery sits at about 600 meters and works by gravity: grapes arrive at the top level and the must moves down through the tanks to bottling and the barrel cellars below, without pumping. The lineup centers on Greek varieties, with Agiorgitiko for reds and Moschofilero for whites, alongside some Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Why we carry them
We like Semeli as an easy introduction to Greek wine. The Agiorgitiko is juicy and friendly, and the Moschofilero is a floral, crisp white for seafood.
