Their story
Silvergrin comes from Sespe Creek Distillery in Oxnard, a seaside town in Ventura County owned by Alfred English. The recipe was worked out with bartender Josh Goldman, a three-time James Beard nominee, and biochemist David Brandt.
The idea was to make a vodka with real flavor and character rather than one that tastes of nothing. It launched in the summer of 2020, and in 2022 the World Vodka Awards named it World's Best Varietal Vodka, the first California brand to take that title.
How it's made
Silvergrin is distilled from a three-part mash of Alturas potatoes, organic corn and Dark Red winter wheat. Each grain and tuber is chosen to add something to the texture and taste, so the base ingredients come through in the glass.
We thought you could make a much better vodka by honoring the base ingredients instead of hiding them.
Why we carry them
We like Silvergrin for anyone who thinks vodka is all the same. Try it chilled and neat, and you will taste the grain.
