Their story
Sipsmith was founded in 2009 by Sam Galsworthy and Fairfax Hall, two friends with backgrounds in the drinks business, along with drinks historian and master distiller Jared Brown. They set up on a residential street in West London, in a space that had once been a microbrewery.
It was the first copper pot distillery to open in London in about 189 years. In 2016 Beam Suntory (now Suntory Global Spirits) took a controlling stake, with the founders staying on to run the distillery.
How it's made
The gins are distilled in small batches in copper pot stills, the first of which is a 300-liter still named Prudence. The core London Dry Gin uses a classic mix of botanicals, and the range also includes sloe gin, vodka and seasonal releases.
Why we carry them
Sipsmith's London Dry is our go-to for a classic martini or gin and tonic. It is a clean, juniper-forward benchmark for the style.
