Their story
Spiritless was started by three friends from Louisville, Kentucky: Lauren Chitwood, Abbey Ferguson and Lexie Lancaster Larsen. All three had worked for big spirits companies and wanted a drink they could enjoy in the evening without the effects of alcohol.
Their first release, Kentucky 74, is a distilled non-alcoholic take on bourbon. The company has since expanded into other categories, including Jalisco 55, a tequila-inspired spirit.
How it's made
Kentucky 74 is made in two steps. First, oak at several char levels is combined with a high-proof neutral spirit and run through a still to capture flavors similar to barrel aging. The concentrate then goes through reverse distillation to remove the ethanol while keeping the oils and tannins, leaving notes of oak, smoke, vanilla and caramel.
We craved a product that would allow us to have our nightly drink but still feel clear-headed
Why we carry them
Kentucky 74 is our go-to for a zero-proof old fashioned. You can also mix it half and half with bourbon for a lighter pour.
