Their story
Split Spirits was founded in 2018 by Will Drucker, a Middlebury College graduate, in partnership with Appalachian Gap Distillery in Middlebury, Vermont. Appalachian Gap itself had been started in 2011 by Lars Hubbard and Chuck Burkins.
In July 2023 Drucker bought the distillery and brought it under the Split Spirits name. The lineup now includes whiskeys, gins, an agave spirit, and espresso and creemee liqueurs, and the company opened a tasting room in Burlington.
How it's made
Split Spirits flips the usual barrel-aging approach by placing wood directly in the bottle. It uses regional woods such as Vermont sugar maple, New York black cherry and Illinois white oak to give each spirit a distinct sense of place. The spirits are distilled in Middlebury.

Why we carry them
The wood-in-the-bottle idea makes these fun to taste and talk about. A great pick for curious whiskey drinkers.
