St. Agrestis

Brooklyn-made amaro and aperitivo with a warm, spice-driven profile.

Based in
Brooklyn, New York

Their story

St. Agrestis is a Brooklyn amaro maker based in Greenpoint, where producer Louis Catizone works to make Italian-style bitter liqueurs feel approachable to American drinkers. The company shares a neighborhood, and a tasting room, with Greenhook Ginsmiths.

Besides its bottled digestifs and aperitifs, the brand serves negronis and spritzes on tap and has branched into non-alcoholic drinks such as its Phony Negroni.

How it's made

St. Agrestis macerates a blend of herbs, roots and spices, with cinnamon, clove, sarsaparilla and gentian leading the way. The result is more spice-forward than many Italian amari.

Amaro is so difficult to understand.
Louis Catizone, producer, to Time Out New York (2020)

Why we carry them

St. Agrestis is a friendly entry point to amaro, and the Phony Negroni is a smart pick for a zero-proof evening. Try the amaro after dinner, neat or over ice.
