Strongwater

Denver-made bitters, syrups and mixers built on whole plants and mountain water.

Their story

Strongwater started with Nick Andresen, a pharmaceutical chemist in his twenties who kept returning to the flavors of his childhood kitchen, like Scandinavian cloudberry tea and Korean ginseng concentrates. Those memories turned into his first bitters, mixed from herbs, bark, roots and fruit, in a garage in Colorado.

The name nods to an old word for liquor and to the shops that once sold bitters as medicine. Over time the small Denver team, including beverage engineer Kyle West, grew the line into cocktail syrups, ginger beer, sparkling tonics and non-alcoholic mixers, several of which have picked up Good Food Awards.

In May 2026 Strongwater was acquired by The Perfect Puree of Napa Valley, which has said production will stay in Colorado.

How it's made

Strongwater works in small batches with whole-plant ingredients and Rocky Mountain water. Recipes draw on flavors the team has met while traveling, and some bitters use Colorado-grown ingredients such as local cherries and wildflowers.

Why we carry them

We reach for Strongwater when we want a home cocktail to taste like a good bar made it. The syrups and bitters also make easy, flavorful drinks with no alcohol at all.
