Their story
Domaine de la Taille aux Loups sits in Montlouis-sur-Loire, across the river from Vouvray in the Loire Valley. The estate was first put together by Christian Prudhomme, but it was Jacky Blot who shaped it, starting in 1988 with old vines in some of the appellation's best sites.
Over the following decades Blot became one of the leading voices for dry, site-driven Chenin Blanc and helped bring Montlouis out from Vouvray's shadow. He also ran Domaine de la Butte in Bourgueil. Blot died in 2023, and the domaine continues his work.
How it's made
The vineyards are certified organic. The Brut Tradition is 100 percent Chenin Blanc from vines around 40 years old, made by the traditional method with fermentation and aging in older barrels, no malolactic fermentation and a low dosage.
Why we carry them
This is the bottle we point to when someone wants Champagne-style bubbles with a different accent. It is dry, bright and has the honeyed depth that only Chenin Blanc brings.
