Their story
Graham Tatomer fell for Riesling as a teenager working at Santa Barbara Winery. That led him to Austria's Wachau, where a 2003 harvest internship with the Knoll family turned into four years of work and study. Back in California he also worked with Adam Tolmach at Ojai Vineyard.
In 2008 he started his own label, focused on the grapes he learned in Austria, Riesling and Gruner Veltliner, grown in Santa Barbara County. He also makes a very small amount of Pinot Noir.
How it's made
Tatomer works closely with growers on farming, even when that means small yields, at sites like the Lafond vineyard on the Santa Ynez River and own-rooted Riesling at Sisquoc in the Santa Maria Valley. He often picks in several passes to capture different textures, then sorts carefully to keep each bottling pure.
Why we carry them
We think Tatomer makes some of the most exciting dry Riesling in California. Pour it with spicy food or anything from the sea.
